One More For the Road: Poison Pen on Dollar Van Demos.

"This is Dollar Van Demos. Get in the van, get out the van."

I think I've said it before, but Dollar Van Demos seems to embody what's truly special about New York City, and more specifically the borrough of Brooklyn. In New York anywhere can be a party- on the bus, on the train, in the bodegas, on the streets or in the back of a dollar van. In the City you make your fun where ever you feel like. Sure, Dollar Van Demos is about promoting artists (an important service for the NYC musical community), but still, what a trip it must be for someone who's not expecting it. They're just trying to go to work or run some errand, going from point A to point B, and then it's like oh shit, here's this dope-ass singer doing their thing. That's what I love about New York, no matter where you go or what you're doing, there's always some kind of surprise waiting around the corner. It's not always a good surprise, but a surprise none the less. In the case of DVD, I would chalk that up as a much welcome surprise.

This is "Brooklyn Party" by Bed-Stuy's Poison Pen. And the song will get into your brain.

  1. Hi Double Jeff,

I don't know how to reach you except for leaving a comment...
I would like to ask you if you might find it interesting to blog about the 7th annual NYC Musical Saw Festival, please. You can see info about it at www.MusicalSawFestival.org
This year we are attempting to break the Guinness World Record of the 'Largest Musical Saw Ensemble'. It would be great help to us if you blog about it, because we are trying to reach as many local musical saw players as possible, to have them participate.

By the way, if you ever see a lady playing the musical saw in the subway - that would be me :)

Thank you and all the best,

    Saw Lady
